Wardrobe Makeover: Boots & Shoes!
I will say again and again, that we moms (and really just people in general!) have it hard, and if you can work the budget to treat yourself a little bit, or even a lot, without taking away from your family or going broke…consider doing it every once in a while. You deserve it. Your job is difficult! You donβt get a paycheck. Pay yourself sometimes. Perhaps in the form of boots and shoes? Iβve been paying myself this way over the last few months.
If I had to rate my sense of style and fashion on a scale of 1-10 (10 being Louis Vuitton couture, 1 being sweats errβ day), I would put myself at a solid 2.42. My goal is to step up my game to a 5 this year. A nice, decent, surgeon wife 5.
Over the past 5 years, I have purchased very few clothes that are not maternity, and almost NO shoes or boots. My boots were completely falling apart when I put them on to wear them this season. I would find pieces of them on my babyβs face. Literally. So it was time to say goodbye to a LOT of boots and shoes.
Bye, shoes! See ya never:

I needed a good variety…tall boots, ankle boots, and shoes. Iβm not prepared to delve back into the world of heels yet, so I got mostly flat. Interestingly, I feel most confident in my boots that have a tiny little heel, so Iβm keeping that in mind for future purchases. Oooo la la!
Okay, so hereβs what I ended up with this season. I know youβre going to be tempted to judge me hard, as itβs a crazy amount, I know, but keep in mind I was basically starting from scratch!

Can I just take a moment here? As I was prepping this for you all, I’m looking at this picture and just feel kind of icky. I’ve never really had nice things, and not that these are outrageously expensive or extravagant, but it just feels weird. I feel a little guilty. And I think I just want to say that, you know…these are just things. Things that may make life a little bit more interesting and comfortable but that are not a source of true joy! From a spiritual perspective, my husband and I truly desire to be good stewards of what weβve been given, be generous to others, and not squander. Life passes in the blink of an eye, and things are not where our heart lies if that makes sense? Anyway, just wanted you to know where I’m at with this. π¬π
Okay, moving on!
Just in case any look interesting to you, I’ll list them here, starting with the back row, left to right. IN NO WAY IS THIS SPONSORED. Just FYI.
Kohls: Sonoma Goods for Life Stone Womenβs Ankle Boots in Olive ($30 currently)
Kohls: SO Tupelo Womenβs Ankle Boots ($40)
Zulily: My MukLuk Patti Boots in Almond ($49) Sadly, Zulily doesnβt always have the Muk Luks in stock, but I saw the Patti boot at Kohls (unfortunately theyβre $60 and they donβt have the same color available, but still worth sharing!)
Zulily: MukLuk Nikki Boot in Oatmeal ($49) Found it at Kohls but it’s more expensive now! Bummer.
Famous Footwear: Tommy Hilfiger Womenβs Genovese Riding Boot in Black ($79)
Famous Footwear: G by Guess Horton Tall Shaft Boot in Dark Brown ($79)
Now for the front row:
Target: Mossimo Womenβs Reese Nylon Slip on Sneakers in gray ($21 – currently on clearance)

Famous Footwear: Dr. Scholls Womenβs Madison Slip On Sneaker in Taupe ($44.99)
Famous Footwear: Skechers Womenβs My Town Slip On Sneaker in Burgundy ($44.99)
Old Navy: Corduroy Sneakers for Women($25)
Old Navy: Brushed-Felt Sneakers for Women ($30)
And I was wearing my favorite boot this season:
Zulily: MukLuk Gray Hayden Boot ($49) I saw this boot (my fav) at Kohls since it’s no longer consistently on Zulily, but the price is $95 there.
If I had to give out some awards here:
- Most cozy: My MukLuk Patti Boots in Almond (they are so soft inside!!!)
- Boots with jeggings: MukLuk Gray Hayden Boot
- Shoes with jeggings: Mossimo Womenβs Reese Nylon Slip-on Sneakers in black
- Fall date nights: Sonoma Goods for Life Stone Womenβs Ankle Boots in Olive
- Boots with leggings: The G by Guess Horton Tall Shaft Boot in Dark Brown
And the best part is that my husband actually came with me to the shoe shop a couple of times! Made for fun evenings out, for a lot of reasons.
Are there any here that you love?! Hope you got some GREAT ideas!

I love this show and tell!
Iβd love to see a picture of your choice with leggings!
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed it!!! I will definitely send a pic of them with leggings! I just wore them last weekend for date night and it was love. π
Loved this post! I, not-so-shamefully, love shoes. Today I bought me some bootie. Shoes, that is π https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075G1ZXRN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Keep lovin’ your husband and those little ones.
Muah.
Some bootie!!! π€£ ππ€£π Love it!! Those are adorable! And high five π for rocking that heel – get it, girl! Iβm going to slowly work my way up to that height…Iβm thinking a half inch per year, post-baby (up to 2.5 inches) sounds reasonable. Ha! XO!
